TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's TECH WORLD Pavilion concluded Monday (Oct. 13) at the 2025 Osaka Expo after 184 days. The pavilion drew 1.1 million visitors from 60 countries and over 4,000 delegations. It showcased immersive experiences exploring humanity, nature, and technology through Life, Nature, and Future themes, according to organizers.
James C. F. Huang (黃志芳), chairman of the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA, 外貿協會), emphasized the pavilion's lasting impact during Monday's closing ceremony. He stated the light-off ceremony represents a temporary farewell, not an end, as TECH WORLD's spirit will continue. Staff and attendees embraced amid applause and laughter as the lights dimmed.
Huang also expressed optimism, noting a successful conclusion represents continuation, not an end. He believes connection and shared prosperity will propel everyone forward. The Osaka Expo attracted approximately 25 million visitors, generating economic benefits exceeding 2 trillion yen (around US$13.2 billion). The pavilion hosted over 300 cultural performances since April and earned bronze in the World Expolympics' Best Exhibit category in September for its Life Theater (生命劇場). ◼
