TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taichung's new cultural landmark, the Taichung Green Museumbrary (綠美圖), will officially open in December 2025. Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen (盧秀燕) announced on Monday (Oct. 13) that the city will host a "Night at the Green Museumbrary" (夜宿綠美圖) event before the official opening. This initiative aims to offer a unique experience for young students and build excitement for the new cultural center.
According to a press release, registration for the sleepover opens on Oct. 14 and runs until Oct. 19. The event will accommodate two batches, with each batch limited to 20 groups. Each group can have up to four participants, primarily targeting students from grades one to six. Organizers will hold the event from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2, splitting it into two sessions: Oct. 31 to Nov. 1 and Nov. 1 to Nov. 2.
Participants must pay a deposit of NT$1,000, which will be refunded after the event. Mayor Lu stated that the event will offer camping with tents, art performances, guided tours, and breakfast, allowing children to experience the ambiance of books and art. If registrations exceed the limit, a lottery will determine who will participate in the sleepover.
In addition to this event, the Taichung Public Library (台中市立圖書館) will launch an activities promoting the upcoming Green Museumbrary at 28 designated branches citywide starting Oct. 17. This initiative aims to engage the community in celebrating the future opening of the Green Museumbrary. From Oct. 28 to Nov. 16, Taichung will also introduce several activities before the library's opening, including a "reading ice cream truck" stationed at Taichung Central Park (中央公園), thematic book exhibitions, lectures by renowned authors, and other creative activities.
